Newbridge House was previously the Westwood Hotel, and was transformed in 2010 to become a 30 bedded purpose-built Dementia care facility. In February 2011, Newbridge House was officially opened. Newbridge is purpose built with dementia clients at the heart of the design. With large bright corridors, bespoke signage and handrails across the home. Over the last decade of being open, the home has developed strong and positive relationships with local commissioners, CCG and inspectors.
Newbridge prides itself on the development and training of staff. Many staff are still working here since the home opened. As it states in our most recent CQC report, Newbridge is very much like a family run home. This positive atmosphere reflects in the happiness of our residents and the compliments we get from families and professionals alike.
Newbridge has 30 beds set over 2 floors serviced by a large passenger lift.
Every bedroom has an en suite, some boasting wet room en suite. We have a large mature garden with a garden room built especially to facilitate meaningful visits. There is also an additional sensory garden complete with pond and outside gazebo seating area.
Inside the home there is a 1950’s style diner, small 1960’s themed kitchen/seating area, quiet lounge, conservatory, and a large lounge. Corridors are themed with focal points of interests for the residents that may wander. There are also three large assisted shower rooms and bathrooms.
Activities are provided on weekdays and include motivational sessions, chair based exercise, arts and crafts and visiting singers. A private hairdresser visits every week and also a private chiropodist for those who require this. The home is also cared for by neighbouring GP practise and has an allocated advanced nurse practitioner who does weekly ward rounds to ensure residents health is closely monitored.
